May 14, 2026 for Berlin Borough residents only
All items for collection must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Reminder: The following items not accepted are TVs, computers or their components, tires, vehicle batteries, building, construction or demolition waste. Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators or freezers can be taken by us if the freon is removed and the item is red tagged by a plumber. Freon items need to be the last items placed in the truck. Paint cans can be taken if they are dry and the lids are off.
Please contact the Borough Office at 267-3837 for information where to dispose of tires, TVs, computers, computer accessories, and rechargeable lithium batteries. Any questions please contact the Borough.

Brothersvalley Township is sponsoring “Spring Clean-Up Days 2026″ on the above dates. This is the opportunity for all residents of the Township to dispose of refuse and other items (junk) in a proper manner.
- You will need to bring your refuse to the township building and unload yourself, a high lift will be available to lift heavy items into dumpster at above times.
- INSTRUCTIONS:
- You will need proof you are a Brothersvalley Township resident, and you will be given an identification slip. Monday through Friday 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at 589 Mason Dixon Hwy Berlin, PA. Please call (814-267-4505) for an appointment to get an identification slip at another time.
- TOWNSHIP WILL NOT TAKE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
Propane Cylinders, Air Conditioners, Household Garbage, Tires, Batteries, Tree Limbs, Paint cans with lids on, Brush, Leaves, Motor Oil
Ashes, Refrigerators (must be Tagged and have Freon removed) - NO TV’S or Electronics – JVS Environmental accepts TV’s and Computers on Thursdays 12:00pm – 4:00pm at 1466 Cornerstone Road, Shanksville. 814-233-5334

Berlin Community Day & Community Yard Sale Day
Let’s Celebrate 250 Years of the USA
This year America is celebrating its 250th birthday. We thought it would be fun to have a house decorating contest. Deck out your house in RED, WHITE and BLUE for a chance to win $50 and bragging rights for the most patriotic house in Berlin. You must have a patriotic theme and be decorated by July 8th. Judging will be held July 11th. The winner will receive $50 and will be announced July 18th at 12:00 (noon) by the DJ at the Lower Diamond. Items will be collected in the parking lot of the Community Building.
JVS Environmental will be collecting the items.
Items excepted are TVs, computers and computer components, printers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and other electronics found
in the common household.
There is no charge for the collection and no limit on the number of items taken during drop-off hours. Individuals,
schools and businesses are welcome to take advantage of this collection day event.

Trinity Church (next to Riverside Market) Community Room
The Community Room is open Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm a place to find lots of information about your community including events and services. The Community Room is working to collect and display information flyers from across the area all in one convenient location. Anyone with information that they would like to share, please stop by on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The Community Room will be offering free chess instruction during school summer break this year 2026. Only requirement is that a parent, grandparent or other adult relative remains at The Community Room during the lessons. The Community Room offers different activities for any adult who does not want to watch the student instructions. Free coffee and tea are provided as well. There is no extended commitment required.
Lessons are free. Sign up day is June 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Trinity UCC Community Room 600 Main Street Berlin PA. Instruction begins June 9, 2026, and is available through July 2026.
