Electronics Recycling Collection Day

June 14, 2025 @ 10:00AM – 2:00PM

Items will be collected in the parking lot at the Borough Building upper lot at 700 North Street, Berlin.

JVS Environmental will be collecting the items.

Items excepted are TVs, Computers and computer components, Monitors, Printers, Laptops, Tablets, Cell Phones.

NOT ACCEPTED: Any liquids, loose batteries or materials that would adversely impact operations or result in environmental or health problems.

ITEMS CONTAINING FREON/COOLANTS WILL HAVE A FEE.

There is no charge for the collection and no limit on the number of items taken during drop-off hours.

Individuals, schools and businesses are welcome to take advantage of this collection event.

If you have items to dispose of before the next collection day, JVS Environmental will except items at their location near Shanksville on Thursdays from 12pm-4pm. The address is 1466 Corner Stone Road, Friedens, PA 15541     814-442-4481

Recycling Opportunity for the Homeowner

The League for Human Decency has organized a recycling drop off the FIRST FRIDAY of each month from 4pm to 5pm at Giant Eagle parking lot 1606 North Center Avenue Somerset PA 15501. (NO COST)

Here are the dates for drop off: January 3, 2025: February 7, 2025: March 5, 2025: April 4, 2025: May 2, 2025: June 6, 2025: July 3, 2025 (HELD THURSDAY DUE TO INDEPENDENCE DAY):

August 1, 2025: September 5, 2025: October 3, 2025: November 7, 2025: December 5, 2025.

Here is the list of items that are being offered to drop off for recycling:

A. Magazines

B. Flattened food and household cardboard

C. Flattened corrugated cardboard boxes

D. Plastic bags

E. Bubble Wrap

F. Styrofoam that “snaps” when broken

G. Glass food & beverage jars and bottles (clear, brown, blue & green)

H. Squashed plastic bearing a 1 in its own bag, plastic with 2 in its own bag and plastics with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, can be mingled in one bag

I. Sheet paper (junk mail, letters, documents, etc)

J. Aluminum cans squashed if possible

K. Cat cans       L. Tins cans squashed if possible

M. All other metal     N. Newspaper

***** IMPORTANT *****

1. Every letter (A through N) must be separated into their own individual bag or box.  Please no combining. Plastics 1 gets own bag, plastic 2 gets own bag and plastics 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 CAN be mixed in same bag

2. Do not put G in plastic bags. Please use boxes as bags are dangerous to all

3. We have a supply of bags and boxes for your use on site, just ask!

4. Space is valuable, so, if possible, please squash/flatten all plastic, aluminum, tin & cardboard

5. J K L M are the only items for which we get $$. These monies go to various charities. No operating expenses are deducted

6. See you at FFFF (First Friday of the month from 4pm to 5pm) at Giant Eagle parking lot North Center Avenue Somerset PA

7. Tie bags in bows only PLEASE do not tie them in a KNOT…. Thank you!

Drop off at Mostoller Landfill 7095 Glades Pike, Somerset PA

Drop off at recycling bin located at weigh station Monday – Friday 7am to 3pm (NO COST)

Accepted: Plastic #1-7 (plastic bottles, tubs, containers, jugs, jars); Aluminum & Tin Food/Beverage Cans; Flattened Corrugated Cardboard and Paperboard (food boxes); Paper, Glass Bottles and Jars. Please clean bottles, jugs, jars, cans. Do not drop off in plastic bags. Plastic bags will not be accepted in bins.

Drop off at Somerset Education Center 6024 Glades Pike, Somerset PA

Drop off in the bin provided by CAP GLASS. (NO COST)

Accepted: All colors of glass bottles and jugs (no ceramics). Rinse all glass and do not drop off in plastic bags.

Drop off at Meyersdale Elementary School Parking Lot, Meyersdale, PA

FOURTH FRIDAY Recycling Program from 4pm to 5pm at the Meyersdale Elementary Parking Lot.

Accepted: corrugated cardboard (please flatted); cereal-box cardboard (can be combined with corrugated cardboard); Styrofoam (must snap when bent); plastic containers (squash containers – with or without caps – must display triangle with numbers 1-7); soft-sheet plastic that crumbles easily (grocery bag); aluminum cans/scrap metal (squash if possible – must be magnetic); tin cans (no need to remove labels – squash can); paper (place in small bags – separate newspapers, junk mail and magazines all must be separated); glass (only food or beverage containers must be in a bx or crate NO bags).

Bubble wrap and shipping materials

Egg crates – keep intact don’t tear them apart

Shredded paper (must be in a tied bag)

Please ask that all items to be cleaned and separated and bags that are NOT tied
